Dealing with failures

Email: How do you deal with failures? (Australia)

I have failed much more than you can imagine. Fail at something each day. It feels really horrible. We can try to avoid sad feelings, wishing we would rather hide. So, what’s the secret to dealing with failures? Well, there isn’t any. We just have to keep trying. keep going. When we rigidly stick to ideas when things don’t go according to plan, we can feel derailed. A more open, flexible & adaptive mindset helps. It might not go according to plan but that’s OK because things will change. Nothing is permanent. Failure brings learning & self-compassion. When we fail, we always learn something new. Then, we can adjust our goals, try new attitudes & create fresh methods to achieve success.

We can also humbly ask for help. When we’re struggling we can either give up or find a better way. Simple & sweet tips from loved ones we can trust gives hope & encouragement. Often, our mind, body & spirit just needs a break from daily routines or discipline. Time is needed to heal, to self-reflect & to grow. It’s easy to give up on something because not doing anything is always easier. Most importantly, believe in our ability to start again.
