When buying cosmetics we read the words ‘cruelty-free’. Who wouldn’t be happy to endorse something against unkindness? To us, ‘cruelty-free’ suggests something was tested without involving, harming animals.
In fact, ‘cruelty-free’ could mean:
• No animals were hurt in testing or production of product
• While ingredients may have been tested on animals, final product wasn’t
• The company didn’t test product themselves but may have relied on other entities
• Testing was done in another country where regulations are different, non-existent
• Neither product, it’s components has been tested on animals in past 5, 10 years
• The product is “cruelty-free” as certified by a 3rd party entity
Given regulatory vagueness, our best bet is to communicate with the manufacturer, for specific clarity.
Firmly speak against cruelty on defenceless animals.
