Yellow fields of flowers…

Dreamy, reminiscing beautiful sights of vibrant yellow mustard flowers, during spring in India. Flowing miles and miles like a youthful yellow sea, covered with mist and music. A charming carpet of yellow petals. A warm embrace of the sun. Simple, sweet rural women smiling in bright yellow fields, look so rustically romantic.

The Yellow Mustard – Amir Khusro

The yellow mustard is blooming in every field,
Mango buds are clicking open, other flowers too
The koyal chirps from branch to branch
And the maiden tries her make-up
The gardener-girls have brought bouquets
Colourful flowers of all kinds
In hand’s everyone’s bringing
But Aashiq-rung (the lover), who had promised to come
To Nizamuddin’s house in spring
Hasn’t turned up – its been so long
The yellow mustard is blooming in every field.

Have you seen the Mustard fields
Heralding in the spring?
Lush yellow for miles together
As far as can be seen
Not a dot of green
On either sides of the road
Mist rising above them
Morning rays filtering through
Sun rising in the East
Night slowly lifting it’s veil
Like a maiden shyly rising from her bed
A fragrance of spring fills the lungs
Lifting your spirits

Have you seen the Mustard fields
Heralding in the spring?
I have seen…
