Email: Shut down when stressed or unhappy. How to improve? (India)

Sometimes, me too! Life’s full of all kinds of stresses. Each of us have habitual ways of reacting – seek a quick fix, mentally complain, stress, shut down.

Habitual reactions move us further away from where we should be, from direct experiences of the momentClosing our hearts makes us unhappy. 

  1. Notice stress – anxiety, struggle, worry.
  2. Notice habitual reactions – over-think, complain, seek comforts.
  3. Refrain from indulging – remain still. Do nothing. Take a short break or pause. Instead of spinning a negative mental narrative, look within for inner wisdom, truth, fire and strength.
  4. Build positive energy – be compassionate to self. Believe in core purpose, passion, abilities. Open our hearts, be fully present. Be completely loving to others and self. Follow our innate inner guidance. That’s always, always true, so real.

An incredibly beautiful, courageous practice. Let’s both try it…
