Healing by volunteering…

Volunteering at hospital’s given me an improved sense of self-worth, accomplishment. Improved quality of lives a little, offered emotional support to patients, families. Interacting with those in need really makes a difference in the lives of others.

Patients have a lonely experience combating illnesses. Friendship, listening, empathy are important to them. Loved playing games, singing rhymes, solving puzzles with kids!

A day in our lives can be both beautiful and ugly. In just one day, supported a 100 year old lady admitted for chest infection, we knew she wouldn’t get through. Mostly, spent time listening to wonderful stories about her life from family. Just moments after, the birth of twin babies after a tough pregnancy, brought great cheer and joy.

Each chapter in life is unique, from 1st breaths as a baby to last coughs as an elder (she died peacefully at home). Teaches us to find a silver lining in each dark cloud.

We hold on to past pain of all kind rather than accept it as fated lessons, look forward to fresh beginnings full of positive energy, belief. Biggest role played by me was to influence people to let go of difficult illness experiences to create beautiful chapters going forward, with a renewed spirit of gratitude, creativity, joy, playfulness. Made great friends as well.
