Forest bathing…

Forest Bathing (shinrin-yoku)“. Japanese word meaning losing self in forests – soaking pure air, charming scents, lush vegetation, natural sounds of birds, animals.

Toffee (my cat), I spent the day at MacRitchie Reservoir in Singapore. Relaxing waterside treks, rainforest trails, cute cuddles by the lake.

Some amazing health benefits of walking in the forests apart from fresh air, exercise. Scientists believe ‘forest days‘ are a wonderful way of reducing chronic pain, loneliness, stress, anxiety. Brilliant serenity helps regulate blood pressure or heart-related issues. Great for friendly or romantic bonding, as well.

Self-care can be gritty, treacherous stuff. We feel guilty giving self the gift of what we truly love, what matters most. A life of sweet, simple rhythms can be sustained.

A peaceful pause to reflect, ask self a bunch of silly questions, appreciate equally silly answers. Reclaimed pieces of self gone missing, in an accomplishment driven culture.
