In a book shop today, I saw many books on ‘learn how to be Zen‘. We live in a fast-paced, achievement-oriented world. Busy days can be exhausting. This explains our fascination with all things Zen. A buzzword in branding products little to do with peace or enlightenment. Zen teas, candles, crystals, books, pillows, fountains, chimes, oils & home décor! It’s ironic that we buy these little pieces of peace. Sometimes, ‘doing’ is the problem like our mind is on a constant hamster wheel. There will never be a moment when everything feels done, everything is certain or there’s no discomfort. Life’s a juggling act of items in the inbox, people to please, feelings to process, challenges to overcome & new experiences to explore. That’s a beautiful thing to learn, evolve, grow or transform into an energy of self love & compassion.
At times, the key to being Zen is to learn to go with the natural flow of life. Simply doing nothing – a state of nothingness where all is intuitively revealed. A space of stillness in hope & belief. We don’t always need a plan to spend 30 minutes a day doing nothing. It definitely changes the vibe of our day. It may just change our lives in a beautiful, balanced & meaningful way.
