Email: Made many mistakes, work hard but feel sad, unworthy? (US)
We hear a lot of what’s ‘expected’ of us. Very clear. Be tough, hard-working, honest, giving, sexy, successful, smart. List goes on.
A new word creeps in my mind. This concept feels foreign, weird, embarrassing. The word is ‘deserve‘. To think we ‘deserve‘ something good feels arrogant, selfish. Who do we think we are? Sacrifice what we deserve?
There’s a simple, humble power in idea of ‘deserving‘. As a hard worker, we deserve to be appreciated. If we don’t treat self as we deserve, it’s hard for others to feel the same.
What do we deserve? Believe in our own worth and value, always. We deserve to love, dream, desire, achieve. Be loved, desired. Deserve our inner space, new open horizons. Deserve to not know, make mistakes, express creativity, change paths or perspectives.
Life’s a magical journey, doesn’t always make sense but there’s a big destined purpose revealed in time. Filled with uncertainty, joy, struggle, surprise and reward. We deserve to create or design, then re-design our life as we deem best, for happiness or fulfilment.
Deserve isn’t to expect. An inner knowing of our potential, passion, place we belong. Deserve everything we’re willing to believe. No excuses, obstacles. Yes, we do!
