Email: Why do you stress so much on authenticity? (India)
“To be nobody but yourself in a world doing it’s best to make you everybody else means fighting the hardest battle we can fight and never stop fighting”
For many years, felt like a fish out of water. Wasn’t in touch with who I truly was. Didn’t think it was relevant. Blueprint was clear – get married, career, climb ladder of success.
Did things that didn’t make me happy, denied things that would. Put off my passions to fit in, not rock the boat. Whether deny self to fit in or push self to stand out, conciously tried to be someone else, exhausting.
Adopted people’s social styles, opinions to shape my life – jobs, relationships, hobbies I pursued. A usual book in the shelf, not be seen as unique or different. Socio-cultural conditioning at it’s best.
It was only when I felt burnt out from acting and feeling unhappy, I vowed things must change. Wanted to be me and find others who were themselves. Listened to inner wisdom, knowing and strength. Followed my own desires, purpose and path.
Rediscovered what mattered most, receptively vulnerable, prioritised energy and efforts – ones that make my heart truly sing. Aligned with natural rhythms of the flow.
