Ma…

Email: Single mother. Raising kids is very challenging. (AUS)

Hey, we’re called – mom, mum, motha, mommy, ma, madre, mama and even maw! Regardless we’re the purest form of receptivity, selfless love, giving, kindness, nurturing. Our inner strength, resilience, compassion, endurance is uniquely unmatched.

Mother’s the ultimate, complete, irreplaceable woman. How can a mother who gives birth to new life be weak or helpless? Look within for joy, courage, inspiration, passion, innocence and purpose. A mother can take anyone’s place but none takes her’s!

Child rearing is difficult, stressful under any circumstances. Without a partner, stakes are a bit higher. A few tips on raising kids:

  • Show love – give unconditional love and support. Set aside time to play, read etc
  • Create a routine – structure, plan schedules. Let kids know what to expect
  • Find quality child care – qualified caregivers can be a valuable support
  • Set rules – simple house rules, expectations, allow them to share responsibilities
  • Don’t feel guilty – give realistic tenderness. Don’t over-exhaust self. Be playful
  • Take care of self – exercises, healthy diets, sleep, timeouts, passion is key
  • Lean on others – join support groups, request friends help, seek social services
  • Stay positive – OK to be honest with kids. Sense of humour and self-love is key.
  • Keep the faith – hope and faith can move mountains. Believe we can

Boldly and beautifully express self. Take baby steps.
