We have demonised bats as deadly creatures of the night. Bats are associated with darkness, malevolence, vampires and death. However, they have special characteristics.
Only mammals capable of true sustained flights, powered by muscular movements, distinct from gliding. A flexible adaptation for take-off. They’ve overcome all physical limitations to fly as high as possible, with fun and confidence. So can we, for sure!
Rely primarily on highly developed hearing senses, using echolocation (sonar, in-built radar) to avoid collisions, capture insects. Perceive all sizes or shapes beautifully. Blinded bats easily find their way through complex courses.
A sixth sense gives bats an insightful nature, understand others better than they know selves. This intuitiveness makes bats excellent psychiatrists!
We look, but need to see. We hear but need to feel. Highly intuitive, sensory, perceptive skills make us rare and unique. Inspires us to really believe and trust in self.
Motivates us to realise our deep inner strength, passion, knowing and wisdom to live our full, abundant potential.
Bats need equal amounts of social and solitary spaces. Highlights importance of social interactions but also ‘me-time’ for honest self-reflections and rapid rejuvenation.
Bat dung’s been mined as ‘guano’ from caves, as fertiliser. Consume insects or pests, reducing need for pesticides. Happy to be tourist attractions, as well.
Despite being hated by humans, nevertheless contribute to make a genuine, positive difference in our lives.
Bats aren’t so bad after all…!
