Roof of the world

A once in a lifetime adventure – Tibet. Remote, rugged & a mainly-Buddhist territory known as the roof of the world or a kingdom in the sky.

Potala Palace in Lhasa was Dalai Lama’s winter home. Jokhang Temple is Tibet’s spiritual heart, revered for its gorgeous golden statue of the young Buddha. Mystical monasteries like Sera where monks hold peaceful daily prayers. Samye, Tibet’s first Buddhist monastery was built in the 8th century. Simply stunning.

Namtso Lake with crystal blue waters surrounded by snowcapped mountains is breath-taking. Towering peaks share Mt. Everest with Nepal. Everest base camp treks, surreal. Mt. Kailash is a holy site, worshipped as the residence of Lord Shiva. Dominates with its physical & spiritual awesomeness. The pure & pristine Lake Manasarovar (Mapam Yumtso), a high altitude freshwater lake is fed by the Kailash Glaciers. A revered sacred place in four religions – Hinduism, Bön, Buddhism & Jainism.

Colourful cultural festivals are spectacular – Losar festival (Tibetan New Year), Shoton festival when the Tibetan songs, dances, opera are performed & the Nagchu horse racing in August. Undeniably, one of most beautiful places on Earth. Heavenly.
