Exotic teas are used for celebrations, ceremonies or even as health enhancers. The most expensive tea in the world:
Da-Hong Pao Tea – $1.2 million per kilo (premium quality)
Da Hong Pao is a rock tea, grown in the Wuyi Mountains of China. A heavily oxidised, dark oolong tea. A rich floral, lingering smell of toasted nuts, stone fruit, minerals, subtle smoke & a sweet after taste. The tea dates back to the Ming Dynasty, a national treasure. Given as gifts to luminaries or celebrities. The process of making a cup of Da-Hong Pao tea remains a tightly guarded secret. It costs approx $1,500 a gram or $15,000 a pot. The original Da Hong Pao is expensive as there are hardly any tea trees left. Incredible.
