Email: Are you conventional or non-conventional? (Ireland)

Awesome question. Here’s my analogy:

Baking is a science, cooking is an art. To bake a great cake we need very exact, precise measures of ingredients. There is no room for experimentation. In cooking, we blend ingredients, try new things for unique flavours, add our own special personal touch.

Being conventional is like baking – fixed processes, ways of working, specific moulds. An extreme version is resistance to seek alternatives or deviations to explore or expand. Aim is chemical perfection, even if may be suffocating, stifling.

Similarly, an extreme in cooking – too much freedom, choice, adventure, indiscipline with no clear plan, path, goal or focus. Run risk of destroying the dish, disappointing all.

Balance, is what I desire. Take best of both worlds, equilibrium – planned, structured, grounded approach of baking and creative space, stimulation, passion of cooking.

Sticking to only one or the other way can never bring genuine fulfilling, transformative new experiences, realistic growth or inspiration to push boundaries, self-actualisation.

Balance is essential to ensure we don’t just make everyone else happy, but ourselves! Our life is precious. Like a healthy tree, we need a good balance of earth, air, water, fire.

Ultimate objective is to seek what makes us ‘truly, truly happy’ – mind, body and heart.
