Email: Difference between empathy and compassion?
Compassion is our ability to understand the real emotional state of others or oneself. A true desire to alleviate the pain of others, somehow. It motivates us to go out of our way to be there for others, kind of ‘suffer together’ or ‘sail together’, make a difference.
Empathy though, is our ability to put oneself fully in other person’s shoes, genuinely listening or seeing the world from other’s perspective, challenges or circumstances.
Compassion leads to deep feelings of empathy. Feeling their sorrow, before your own.
We feel gratitude for our little blessings, hence try our best to be kind, giving and loving. Like engaging in charitable pursuits or offering our service to help those in need.
Selfless and simple pleasures, by bringing a reason to smile, to another. Rare and beautiful emotions, generously and graciously willing to go the extra mile.
