Email: Too shy to dance with people around, love dancing but giving up?
Dancers are just passionate, energetic and natural performers. We dance to focus on ourselves, oblivious of the audience or an intent to impress others.
If we’re too shy of dancing, here’s a few tips to express ourselves.
Don’t worry about being judged, likely no-one’s not thinking of you! Everyone dancing around are equally excited, clueless and enjoying, in their own world.
Step into shoes of a fictitious character, role-play. Be anyone you want, design magical scenarios. Being emotionally detached from self helps free of inhibitions, flow with natural rhythms and beats, of your favourite music.
Dancer anxiety comes from a feeling of being compared with others. We feel insecure we aren’t at the level of good dancers, our benchmarks. Instead, feel motivated, inspired, determined to keep dancing, till you can dance at the same level or higher. Be proud and own your weirdness, originality, attributes and uniqueness.
Dance is body, heart and mind in sync, honestly expressing their individuality. There’s no ‘good or bad,’ with beautiful, natural emotional expressions. Purity of expression is key.
Imagine wonderful, delightful new experiences that await, if your shyness wasn’t holding you back, not worth it. Opportunity dances with those already on dance floor!
Finally, fake it till you make it…!
