Hiroshi Yoshimura (吉村弘, Yoshimura Hiroshi, 1940 – 2003) was a great Japanese musician & composer. A pioneer of ambient music in Japan. His music lies mostly in the minimalist genre of kankyō ongaku or environment music. Soft electronic melodies infused with the sounds of nature – babbling brooks, steady rain & morning birds. In addition to creative solo performances & improvisational music, he performed environmental music containing graphic or sound design & vibrant visual poetry. Marvellous music for museums, workplaces & stations. One of the most influential & prolific of the artists to come out of Japan’s ambient renaissance.
