As someone who loves speed, an interesting thought. Sometimes, while rushing through our day, we fail to notice the simple beauty of living. We’re taught to value speed, learn ‘doing’ is more valuable than ‘being’. Making the most of life means forging ahead at hurried pace. Yet, as we lurch forward in search of contentment, we find ourselves increasingly disconnected.
Slowing down to re-discover the significance of seemingly inconsequential aspects of life is powerful. A little job well done becomes a source of profound pleasure. In essence, the gift of time for oneself brings inspiration. Time to indulge in our curiosity, to enjoy the moment, to appreciate, to create, to explore is precious.
A life savoured slowly needn’t be passive or inefficient. Slowness can be a boon in situations that demand haste. Pacing ourselves as we address urgent matters helps us find balance & the strength to face challenges. Eliminating unnecessary rapidity brings positive, peaceful & playful experiences. We can relish simple morning rituals with a cup of tea, immerse ourselves wholeheartedly in passion pursuits & nurture our loved ones. Even a five minute break from work, a short walk in the park makes us feel tranquil.
Sometimes, we find it challenging to avoid giving in to rush. We are acclimated to a world of split-second communications, cell phones, emails & overflowing agendas. A relaxed tempo opens the mind & heart to deeper levels of awareness, compassion & natural spontaneity. Ultimately, we discover gratitude.
