Appleberry Mulled Wine…

Ingredients:

  • 2 x 75cl bottles red wine (Merlot preferably)
  • 11 good-quality cloudy apple juice
  • 115g caster sugar
  • 1 long cinnamon stick, snapped in half
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 tbsps Orange Curaçao or Cointreau
  • 100g / 4oz frozen mulled fruit or Black Forest fruits
  • 3 small red-skinned apples, sliced into rings

Method:

  1. Pour wine, apple juice into large saucepan.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon stick and star anise.
  3. Heat gently stirring a little until sugar has dissolved.
  4. Continue heating gently for 15 minutes.
  5. Just before serving swirl in Curaçao or Cointreau.
  6. Throw in frozen fruits and add apple slices.
